~General Information~

Name: Pausanias Kyros

Nickname/Alias: His friends call him Pause. He also tends to use the more modernized alias Paul Kirote.

Appearance:

Pause is a tall, small-framed man. He doesn't have particularly defined muscles, though he does have the advantage of natural muscle mass that he gained through just growing up as a guy. He has a longer, ovular face, round nose, almond-shaped eyes, and lips that lie somewhere between thin and full. His eyes are gray in color, brought out further by a light trace of eye-liner which he applies. Arching above his eyes are a pair of black eyebrows, which are somewhere in the middle between thick and thin. His lips are a light pink color, and pierced twice, once on either side of his bottom lip. The piercings in his lip sometimes change, but for the most part he sticks to small, silver studs. Typically his hair covers his smaller, round ears. Pause has a defined jaw-line, though it isn't muscular or particularly square. His neck is on the longer side, his adam's apple protruding significantly.

Pause's torso is long and thin, almost skin and bones. His stomach is flat, but lacks any visible muscle, his upper torso lacking defined pectoral muscles. His chest also seems void of any abundance of body-hair, like the rest of his body. If it's there, it's an extremely light color. His arms are long and bony, like his fingers. Pause's height is mostly in his torso, though his legs are still impressively long. His knees are knobbly, his legs covered in light hair.

In an attempt to assimilate with the modern world around him, Pause recreated his appearance. Before entering the real world his hair was kept long, pulled back in a ponytail, and he was almost always robed. Now, his hair is kept short and black, in what one might call these days an 'emo haircut'. His hair is kept short in the back, pushed upward, and kept in a sense of elegant disarray. His bangs frame his face on the right side, while the majority of them are pushed away and toward the left, covering his left eye and most of his face.

Clothing: Pause enjoys wearing a large variety of clothing. He's seen often in a pair of jeans with massive holes over the knees, a pair of brightly colored converse, and a band t-shirt of some sort. However, he's also been known to rock a button-up shirt, colored tie, and pair of nicer black pants, possibly even with a pinstriped vest; in both of these outfits the common element is a brightly colored pair of converse, typically red or green. Pause has also been known to experiment with female's clothing, not particularly because he wants to be a woman(though he has considered it), but because he feels that clothing is clothing, and shouldn't be gender specific. Because of this he has been known to wear mini-skirts both over and without pants. Pause doesn't often wear jewelry, though when he does it's usually made of bone and crafted by himself.

Personality: Because he's spent so much time sheltered from the real world, Pause is always eager to learn new things. He's excitable, and fascinated by anything and everything he comes across that he's never seen before. Most would find him ignorant because of his setting, which is true for the most part, but he is well educated and studied, though it is mostly in the things that were known to the ancient greeks. Pause has a great head for quotes and literature, and often enjoys relating the conversation at hand to the quote of a great man in history. He's obsessed with famous last words, and carries a book around with him filled to the brim with his favorite quotes, all hand-written by him. Pause is a relatively cool-headed person, difficult to upset or aggravate in any way, and tries his best to abstain from violence in any way possible. However he does know how to fight, and if the situation calls for it and no other possible course of action, he isn't afraid to tap into that knowledge.

Pause is an interesting character, even to those he has grown up with. He has the knowledge granted to him by an outdated cult, and the mindset of a modern liberal. He loves the concept of change, and feels like it's both human nature and human right to change and adapt as time passes. He is a huge fan of the myth that man was originally both genders at once, and that they were split up. In this sense one could call him a romantic, or maybe just a hopeless optimist. This myth is also how he justifies his secret desire to become a woman. He honestly believes that he was destined to be placed in the female half, but somehow it had gotten mixed up. Most automatically assume that he's gay, purely based off of this, but this is also inaccurate. He likes women and only women, he just happens to want to be one of them.

Pause loves animals and mythological creatures, though at the same time he has no reservations about killing either if they attacked him, or he needed meat to survive. Pause is actually a skilled bow-hunter, he loves the sport of it, the serenity of a forest at four in the morning when nothing can disturb you. He sticks to the ancient belief that one should use every part of the things he kills, and as a result has become quite proficient at making carvings and jewelery out of the bones of the animals he's killed, while the meat goes to his meals.

~Character Information~

Immortal Parent's Name: All who follow his beliefs claim Prometheus as their father, though there doesn't seem to be any direct ties.

Ability Summary: Prometheus has granted Pause a special ability. He is able to assimilate with any mythological creature that he kills, taking on a single attribute of the monster which he can call upon in or out of combat, depending on its uses. The only monster he has ever killed so far is a Stymphalian bird, which currently gives him the ability to produce and shed metal feathers, used in combat. He can only be assimilated with a single monster at a time, meaning the next time he assimilates he loses the ability of the Stymphalian bird.

Special Characteristics: Pause will occasionally radiate a light gray aura when a mythological creature is nearby, which is a sort of natural sense granted to him by Prometheus to assist in his hunting and assimilating.


~History/RP Sample~

History/Background Story: Pause was born to an underground cult who had devoted themselves since the time of the ancients to the worship and love of the great titan Prometheus. They are eternally grateful and indebted to him, and as such refuse to give up their culture. Pause was more or less a higher-up in the cult, being the son of one of the High Priests. He was given special treatment and education since he was a young boy. He spent most of his life sheltered in the cult's village, kept under the guise of an Amish village. His life was extremely uneventful throughout those years, except for one particular even which would change his life forever.

On day, during a sacrificial ritual to Prometheus, their prayers were answered. Prometheus, the patron of foresight had predicted a great blight upon mankind itself in the near future, though he was unsure what that blight was. It could be the result of a war amongst gods and titans, or just the gods, or maybe it would have something to do with the humans themselves. Either way, he would choose one of his loyal followers to bestow a gift, and with that gift they would be sent into the real world where they would be charged with the task of protecting humanity from whatever evil was about to occur.

Pausanius was the one chosen by Prometheus, maybe because of some insight that Prometheus had, or more likely by a simple stroke of luck. Either way, Prometheus gave him the ability to become one with monsters, for according to one section of philosophy, the only way to defeat evil is to become it yourself. It was an ironic twist, birthed by a dry sense of humor developed over thousands of years, but it was a gift none-the-less. In an effort to give Pasuanius a head start, the village called for a cult-wide hunt. The first to capture a mythical beast alive would be rewarded by Pausanius' father himself.

The hunt lasted for two weeks until, finally, Pausanius caught his own monster. He was asked to stay behind in the hunt, and allow them to do this as a farewell gift, but he protested that it wouldn't be much fun for him to sit back and watch. And so he captured and slew the Stymphalian bird in front of the whole village during their feast. His father gifted him with a bow and quiver crafted by his own hands-a hobby his father had picked up as a child- and a set of twenty arrows, each one's fletching made with a feather of the bird he slew.

So, with a bow on his back and a new ability to master, he stepped out into the world at the age of seventeen, just two months from his birthday. He would instantly find that he was completely alien to the world around him, both by appearance and dialect. So, he made a friend, a boy named Derrek. Pause would eventually adopt the boy's style of dress, his ideals, his dialect(that of an Englishman's), and quite a bit of his attitude. He spent two months with Derrek and his family, but on the night of his birthday he ran away to London, which was where he suspected he could find out the most about what was going on in the world, as it was the nearest big city to him.

I fail to see how a mortal with unnatural powers would be any less reasonable than a demi-god?

It's the theme were going with. Demi-god titan god monster. Now unless someone objects i see no problem with you being a demi child of Prometheus.

Again, I'm confused as to how a mortal with titan-granted abilities falls outside the theme of the site. An immortal parents would change nothing about my character, or how he affects the plot line. Please, try to explain this to me in further detail. Your reasons seem a bit too lacking to be convincing

Not at all actually. Demi-gods are mortals the same as my own character. And it would be assumed that since his gift grants him the power to assimilate with monsters and the like that he would also have the special gift to see them(hence him being the only one to be able to find a monster in the history). Either way I don't see how my character requires any form of special privileges or treatments, or how it could possibly be disruptive. However, as you all seem adamant on your points, freeze the application. I'll bring it up when the time seems more fitting for negotiation.

I believe that his character is alright. This app is just like a demi god app. Actually, Pause, you could add that Prometheus was your great great great great (after many great's) grandfather and that's why you have those abilities. But with every generation the ability weakens and that's why you can only take on one ability of a monster you defeat.

Buuut yeah. Just my opinion.

Like I said. Freeze it, or delete it. Whatever you'd rather. But I have to remain loyal to the character I made. What you don't seem to grasp is that changing something like his heritage completely changes the character itself, and I can't do that. When it comes to characters, I'm afraid I can't just settle /=

Well, actually, we could just accept his character as it is like a demi god. Instead of a demi god it's a mortal with demi god-like abilities. So it counts as a demi god. Also, he already has a god character and having a second wouldn't be fair, I suppose.

Ya but Like Chaos said were not big enough yet for mortals with powers. This isn't X-men it's Olympians. Demi gods have powers, Gods have powers, Titans have powers and monsters have powers. Mortals don't. Ok some can see through the mist but as for actual powers no.

Besides, we could make a mortal group and say -No more members accepted. I mean, one mortal wouldn't do any harm.

But it would cause problems. Will get people asking if he could why can't they it's not right to do special favors for someone and cut everyone out. And it's not Percy Jackson there are myths of mortals seeing things as they really are.
